CV writing FAQs

Everything you need to know about how BreezyCV works, what your CV will look like, how ATS systems read CVs, and what to expect when you order.

What will my BreezyCV look like?

Your CV will be clean, professional and deliberately simple.

We don’t use coloured boxes, graphics, skill bars, photographs, columns or elaborate designs.
They may look impressive on screen, but they can make a CV harder to read and can cause problems with the Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) many employers use to process applications.

A BreezyCV is designed to put the important things first: you and what you have to offer an employer.

It will normally be no more than two pages, with clear headings, sensible spacing and a straightforward professional layout.

How long will it take to receive my finished CV?

Your completed CV will normally be sent to you within 2 working days of receiving your completed information and payment.

Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. For example, an order received on Friday would normally be completed by Tuesday.

If we need any additional information from you before we can finish your CV, we’ll contact you as soon as possible.

What is ATS, and why does it matter?

ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System.

Many employers use this kind of software to help manage job applications.
When you send in your CV, the ATS may read it before a person does!
It looks for useful information such as your skills, qualifications, job titles and experience, and helps the employer organise and compare applications.

Some over-designed CVs can be difficult for these systems to read properly. Columns, text boxes, graphics and unusual layouts can sometimes cause information to be missed or put in the wrong order.

That’s one reason why BreezyCV uses a clean, straightforward format.
It is designed to be easy for both the computer and the human recruiter to read.

Why does BreezyCV use only one CV template?

Because we’ve already done the experimenting, with thousands of successful CVs.
BreezyCV uses one carefully developed format because we believe it gives the best combination of:

  • easy reading for a recruiter
  • compatibility with Applicant Tracking Systems
  • clear presentation of your skills and experience
  • professional appearance
  • sensible use of a two-page CV

We don’t offer dozens of templates simply to give you something else to choose.
The layout is part of the BreezyCV system.

If you particularly want a colourful, graphic or differently designed CV, you’re welcome to copy the wording from your BreezyCV into another template yourself. But we don’t recommend changing it simply for appearance’s sake.

Why does BreezyCV cost less than many traditional CV-writing services?

Traditional CV writing can involve several hours of manual research, drafting, rewriting and formatting, and the price naturally reflects that time.

BreezyCV uses a carefully developed writing system and smart technology to make much of that process considerably more efficient.

The saving comes from the way the work is carried out — not from lowering the standard of the finished CV.

If I don’t like my CV can I get a refund?

We want you to feel that your BreezyCV represents you accurately and professionally.

If we have made a genuine mistake — for example, included incorrect information, misunderstood something you told us, or produced a CV with a significant formatting problem — we will put it right.

However, BreezyCV is an efficiently-delivered professional CV-writing service, not a bespoke consultancy with unlimited revisions. A refund will not normally be given simply because you would have preferred different wording, emphasis or style.

Your CV is prepared from the information you provide, using the BreezyCV writing and formatting formula and our proven CV structure. If it is accurate, professionally written and properly formatted, the service has been delivered.

If you believe something is genuinely wrong, just contact us and explain the problem. We’ll look at it fairly. The contact form is at the bottom of this page.

Is my CV just written by AI?

Not quite.
BreezyCV uses AI as part of the process, but it isn’t simply a case of asking an AI chatbot to “write me a CV”.

The system has been developed around a detailed set of CV-writing rules, preferred structures, wording principles and writing methods developed from extensive real-world CV-writing experience.

The information you provide is the raw ingredients.
BreezyCV then uses its rules and writing system to decide how those facts should be organised and presented.

AI is a tool within the process — it isn’t the CV writer.
The rules, structure, priorities and writing methods that guide the finished CV come from professional CV-writing experience.

Think of the technology an engine component. The BreezyCV system tells the engine where to go.

How was BreezyCV developed?

BreezyCV grew out of the professional expertise of writing thousands of successful CVs.

That experience has gradually been turned into a system: rules about what belongs in a CV, what doesn’t, how information should be prioritised, how achievements should be described, how profiles should be written, and how the finished document should be structured.

Those rules have then been combined with modern AI technology and repeatedly tested and refined.

The aim is simple: to apply the judgement and methods of an experienced CV writer far more efficiently, making professional CV writing considerably more affordable.

Will my CV be completely unique?

The content will be based on you—your experience, qualifications, skills, achievements and circumstances.

The layout will not be unique, because all BreezyCVs deliberately use the same proven format.

That’s a good thing.
An employer isn’t choosing the most unusual CV design.
They’re choosing the person whose experience and abilities best match the job.

Your CV needs to make that information easy to find.

Do I need a different CV for every job I apply for?

Not necessarily—but sometimes you should.

If you’re applying for several very similar jobs, your main BreezyCV may be suitable for all of them.

But if the jobs are significantly different, the things an employer wants to see may also be different.

For example, someone with experience in both customer service and administration might need one CV that places greater emphasis on dealing with customers and another that highlights organisation, IT and office skills.
The facts haven’t changed. The emphasis has.

For particularly important applications, it’s also sensible to look carefully at the job advertisement and make sure the most relevant skills and experience are prominent in your CV.

Should I change my CV to match a job advertisement?

Where appropriate, yes.

Employers often tell you exactly what they’re looking for in the job description.
If you genuinely have those skills or that experience, your CV should make them easy to find.

That doesn’t mean copying chunks of the advertisement or adding things that aren’t true.

It means making sure the parts of your genuine experience that matter most for that particular job aren’t hidden halfway down the second page.

Can I edit the CV after I receive it?

Yes.
Your BreezyCV is your CV.

You can update information, dates, add new qualifications, or adjust wording as your career develops.

You can also copy the content into another a template if you really want to. We simply recommend keeping the BreezyCV layout unless you have a good reason to change it.

Why doesn’t BreezyCV offer fancy designs?

Because a CV has a job to do.

Its purpose isn’t to win a graphic design competition.
Its purpose is to help an employer quickly understand why you may be worth interviewing.

Recruiters may have many applications to look through, so clarity matters.
BreezyCV deliberately keeps the design out of the way and lets your experience, abilities and achievements do the work.

Can BreezyCV guarantee that I’ll get an interview?

No—and nobody genuinely can.

A strong CV can improve the way you present yourself, but the decision will also depend on the job, the other applicants, your qualifications and experience, and what that particular employer is looking for.

What BreezyCV can do is help make sure that a poor CV isn’t unnecessarily standing between you and the opportunity.

What if there’s something wrong with my CV?

Please tell us.

BreezyCV is designed to produce a strong finished CV from the information you provide, but automated systems can occasionally misunderstand something.

If there’s a genuine problem with your CV, we want to know about it. It helps us put things right for you and helps us continue improving BreezyCV for everyone.
